Taylor Ashley hails from Austin, Texas, where he was raised in a family that encouraged artistic and musical pursuits from an early age. From his early introduction to the piano at age five, Taylor became more and more aware of his love for music, and during his senior year of high school, he decided to make music his emphasis of his college education.
Taylor auditioned at Southwestern University, where he received a scholarship and studied piano under Dr. Kiyoshi Tamagawa and guitar under Dr. Steven Kostelnik for two years.
He transferred to Texas A&M, where his love for piano flourished under the instruction of Dr. Kathryn Woodard, and he developed a newfound appreciation for composition. He received a BA in music from Texas A&M, with special emphasis on piano performance and composition. He also studied shakuhachi performance, and electronic music.
Taylor has a love for teaching, and has been teaching piano since high school from his home and at professional music schools. Taylor now lives in Houston with his wife Kasey. Success Music Studios is honored to have our only Aggie Piano Teacher.
