Lucy was born in Giza, Egypt but raised in Houston, Texas. She began learning piano at the age of six in Egypt, and when she moved to the U.S., she received her piano and theory instruction from the Houston Music Institute, where she participated in music festivals and competitions. In 2002, she auditioned for the Michael P. Hammond music program at the Shepherd’s School of Music at Rice University, where she was placed under the direction of Dr. Darius Pawlas. She stayed under the direction of Dr. Pawlas for seven years where she was taught music theory, composition, and piano performance.
Lucy graduated from Houston Baptist University in 2009 with a double major in Political Science and International Business while still an active member of the Michael P. Hammond Program at Shepherd’s School of Music. While at HBU, she was a member of the elite music group Focus & Refuge as well as a participant in HBU’s choir- University Singers.
She currently plays piano at Memorial Drive Baptist Church. She loves every aspect of music, and enjoys playing and listening to many different types of music. She enjoys teaching and enriching young minds with the captivating essence of music. Dance and theatre are some of her other passions, especially Broadway!
